- Connect the device to your Mac or PC.
- On the "Summary" tab in iTunes, click the "Serial Number" label. You'll notice "Serial Number" changes to "Identifier".
- Click on "Edit" in the menu at the top and select "Copy".
- Now you can paste the device ID into an email.

Finding your iPhone or iPod Touch Device ID

Is this the same serial number that's stamped on the back of my phone? I'm not at home right now so I can't connect to my home PC...

It's not the same thing actually. The UDID is 40 characters long and is made up of letters and numbers. Though it's been months since you posted, other people may find the following useful:
If you're in a place with wifi, search the app store for UDID. There's a few there like "Ad Hoc Helper."
If you happen to be at a computer and forgot your iphone or cord, then if you navigate to the folder where itunes stores your backups, it will be the name of the folder.
On a PC it looks like this:
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup
(where USERNAME is your username)
Thanks for this tutorial, I had to give Apple my new ipod touch ID as it has been playing up for a bit after I just bought it, going to send it to them tomorrow for a replacement, thanks for this!
